Dance for Homeschool Students

Ages 6–11
Classes Run August 7, 2023 – May 19, 2024

Southwest Ballet Theatre is pleased to offer midday classes to homeschool students. Students will learn in a positive, nurturing, and developmentally sound environment. Although similar to our afternoon classes, these classes are structured as open classes in order to better suit homeschool families’ flexible schedules. Families can choose the drop-in rate or a monthly tuition and may utilize their Empowerment Scholarship Accounts for payment.

Beginning Ballet is a formal introduction to classical ballet technique. Students engage in ballet vocabulary, theory, and kinesthetic principles; learn to use their bodies correctly to prevent injury; and build strength, stamina, coordination, discipline, and grace.

Beginning Jazz develops skills in coordination, flexibility, core strength, strong lines, and musicality while encouraging creative expression through movement. Class will consist of an energetic warm-up followed by a series of combinations focusing on skills such as jumps, turns, and basic movement patterns.

All students may participate in the year end Showcase (no additional fee required). Other performance opportunities may be available for students to develop a deeper appreciation of theatre and the ballet art form.
