Boys’ Tuition-Free Ballet

Ages 8–12
Classes Run August 10, 2026 – May 15, 2027

Southwest Ballet Theatre has created a tuition-free ballet program in order to make ballet more accessible to boys in the West Valley. Ballet is the first discipline of all dance forms. Boys who train in ballet enjoy crossover benefits in sports, learn self-expression and discipline, attain superior core strength, endurance and flexibility, and experience the benefits of entertaining people from all walks of life.

The program is centered around a boys-only class taught by Luke Roosma. This class is designed to enhance athletic skills, increase flexibility, build muscle strength, and help develop coordination. The unique and athletic energy of boys is given proper attention in this class. Additional co-ed ballet classes are based on age and ability. A minimum of two ballet classes are required per week (boys ballet plus one more coed ballet class). All ballet classes are free and boys have the option to attend an additional Enrichment class for a fee. For the complete schedule of leveled classes with Enrichment options, please see our Class Information page.
SWBT is a qualified vendor for the Empowerment Scholarship Account program from the Arizona Department of Education.

Students are encouraged to audition for parts in The Nutcracker and the spring production and will participate in the year end Showcase.
